At its core, Whereabouts is about collaboration, with you, our community, our tradespeople and beyond.
Whereabouts came to life when Shannon and Vicky relocated back to Aotearoa New Zealand after seven years in Melbourne, Australia. The name “Whereabouts” is about place, connection to that place and belonging all while respecting the land that we are occupying. We want to change the idea of being “house proud” by expanding its meaning to our community, caring for our environment and truly respecting and loving the place we call home.
This is not only reflected through our designs, but through the products we source, the way we interact with our clients and how we actively seek collaboration with other Aotearoa New Zealand businesses.
Look we may be new, but we have oodles of experience and character to do this right from the get-go.

We are keen to hear about your project. We love working collaboratively with our clients and contractors to produce top quality designs & spaces that work well.
Our experiences leading up to starting whereabouts are based both in Wellington & Melbourne and include a wide breadth of projects from single residential to civic scale interventions.
We've got a keen eye for detail and a passion for sustainable solutions. This is reflected in every project we can get our mitts on
We are registered Architects in New Zealand and Australian so it doesn't matter whereabouts your project is, we can help.
So get in touch, we can have a chat about what it is you want to do and let's figure out the best way to do it, together!

This was a small renovation to a 1940’s bungalow, which had been extended in the 1980’s.
The intent here was to convert the original formal lounge into a main bedroom suite. So what we did was a small intervention of an ensuite pod into the larger room with some built in robes.
Featuring ribbed cedar paneling, terrazzo tiles and raw brass fixtures, this small renovation seeks to reference its art deco surroundings and provides a contemporary interpretation while giving the house a much needed second bathroom, a luxurious space for the grownups of the house.

Under Construction
This project started life as a kitchen upgrade but slowly developed into a sizable reconfiguration of the internal spaces to improve the overall layout.
We relocated the laundry to the garage, extended the house out to provide a generous main bedroom suite with walk in robes and Ensuite.
The original kitchen was cramped and barely allowed for a dining table, now it comfortably allows for Kay & Simon to host their friends and family for dinners with a main suite that is secluded from the rest of the home.
